Double-handled jars Majolica - Savona 19th cent.
Pair of large double-handled majolica jars with white background and blue monochromatic decoration. What differentiates them from hot-glazed terracotta is the last phase of the decorative method which involves the application of a thin layer of crystalline transparent glaze. The two pieces from Savona depict pictorial themes taken from the vast biblical and mythological repertoire and present a rich landscape decoration of intense blue colour.
