Murano glass vase Battuti - Carlo Scarpa for Venini - Italy 1940s

'Battuti' vase C. Scarpa - Venini - Murano 1940s
Beautiful vase in thick transparent deep-red Murano glass with irregular horizontal grindings. It belongs to the Battuti series designed in the early 1940s by the Italian architect Carlo Scarpa who conceived this particular working on the grinding wheel, the battitura (beating), which gives the glass an appearance similar to hammered silver. At the base there is the signature 'Venini Murano Italia'.
