Tiberio Tinelli was born in Venice in 1587, where he died in 1639. He was specialized in portraits, which made him unique in Venice and close to the European portrait artists, such as Anton Van Dyck. His oneness led him to become the official painter of the French royal court, where he would be also appointed "Knight of the French crown". This oil on canvas depicts a knight, probably lawman, with a book in his hand. Excellent the preservation conditions.
