Dating back to the mid-17th century, this oil on canvas depicts the biblical scene of the Adoration of the Magi - the Three Wise Men. On the left, the Virgin Mary holds the newborn baby Jesus on her knees, while the Child leans towards the king kneeling in front of him. On the right, the other Two Wise men holding the gifts they brought. The canvas, brought to life by the brilliant colors and the skillful use of light, is also populated by angels surrounding the Mother and by figures of common people also adoring the Baby Jesus. In the background, a dark landscape with ruins contrasts with the warm and wisely illuminated scene in the foreground.
