Born in Milan he was a law school graduate. From 1921 until his death, he dedicated himself to the workshop he founded, the Vetri Soffiati Muranesi Venini & C. His goal from the beginning was to expand his company’s influence abroad by searching the collaboration of the most talented artists and architects of his time, employing them as artistic director of his company. He personally worked at the side of the artistic director and checked every collection, and this assured his company both critical and commercial success. From the ‘30s he dedicated himself to the design of the glass pieces, starting with the Diamante glasses. In the post-war period he created bottles with vivid coloured stripes, with rods, vessels in mosaico zanfirico and mosaico tessuto, windows in mosaic glass, battuto vessels and the Incisi series. Collaborating with Fulvio Bianconi he also created the famous fazzoletti during the ‘50s, which are still greatly appreciated still nowadays.
