Gennaro Chiurazzi (Naples, 1842-1906) was the founder of a well-known family of artists. He started to work in his hometown as a smelter for works of art in marble and bronze. The great quality of his production made him very popular, and led him to win several awards, for example in New Orleans, Turin and Saint Luois. During the 1890s Chiurazzi started to exhibit his works also in Naples, first at Piazza dei Martiri and then at Galleria Principe. In 1895 his sons Federico and Salvatore joined the management of the foundry, expanding the activity of their father and transmitting it to the next generation. It is worth mentioning the works of art depicting female characters, such as common women or Venus.
