At the age of thirty, Ercole Barovier became partner of his father - Benvenuto Barovier - in the family company Vetreria Artistica Barovier & C.. In 1926 he became the artistic director and took over the whole management of the company with his brother. After the 30s he would experiment multi-coloured effects and several processing techniques. After becoming the sole owner, in 1942 he renamed the new company Barovier & Toso, which he guided as artistic director until 1972. During the 50 years of his activity he contributed significantly to the renovation of art glass with the invention of numerous decorative techniques; for example, with Murrine vessels and Primavera glass collection, but also glass sculptures. The vivid colours and the great quality of the pieces he created make them unique: for example, the Cordonati oro series. Moreover, the use of particular materials makes his works of art instantly recognizable: one could think, for example, about the coarse surfaces of Barbarici series.
