Splendid late 18th-century pendant featuring a lozenge-shaped structure crafted in finely chased gold and enriched with blue enamel decorated with some delicate floral motifs. At the center, set within an oval enamelled frame, is a hand-painted miniature portraying a lady of the European elite, depicted with an elaborate hairstyle, lace-adorned garments, and a pale complexion achieved with powder, the stylistic traits typical of the reign of Louis XVI. Beneath the gold grid lies a lock of braided hair, placing this jewel within the tradition of souvenirs de fidélité or commemorative jewels, created to celebrate an emotional bond or as a posthumous remembrance, both highly fashionable at the time. Rare example of 18th-century jewellery, preserved in perfect condition.
