Lovely pitcher of the Cordonati oro series designed by Ercole Barovier and made by the Barovier & Toso glassworks in the early 1950s. It is made of ruby red glass with large vertical ribs which enclose a golden twisted cord; it has a splendid curly handle and a pronounced upturned mouth. The Cordonati oro series immediately had a wide response among the public who was fascinated by the contrast between the apparent lightness of the glass and its actual consistency. This particular jug is very refined due to the nice ruby color that blends with the gold, and for the harmonious and elegant shape that highlights the Barovier style of the time.
