Solomonic columns in carved wood Italy 17th century

Solomonic columns Carved wood - Italy 17th cent.
Pair of authentic 17th century Solomonic columns with a twisted shaft in carved wood, derived from late ancient Roman architecture and then taken up by Bernini for the creation of the ciborium of the main altar in the Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican. The sculptures have the original patina of the time and are gilded in pure gold, except for the vine shoots, leaves and bunches of grapes.
