The painting is believed to be a product of the entourage of Antonio Travi (Sestri Ponente, 1609 - Genoa, 1665). As a student of B. Strozzi, he painted some altarpieces (such as "Adoration of the Shepherds", Genoa, White Palace), and later, under the influence of G. Waals, he focused on landscapes, including ruins. In this case, the ruins depicted on the canvas are the product of the author's imagination, what is called a "Capriccio"; this architectural fantasy goes against the custom of that time of depicting ideal landscapes.

Ho acquistato on line alcuni gioielli, uno più bello dell'altro. Spedizione velocissima, bella confezione che includeva anche un gradito regalo, i gioielli sono più belli dal vivo che in foto. Lo Staff di Passione Antiqua veramente gentile, un piacere aver acquistato da loro.

Dopo due splendidi dipinti, dopo svariati anelli uno più bello dell’altro, mancava proprio questa perla d’orologio Longines. Un ringraziamento a tutto lo staff!
