Oil on canvas with portrait of a Saint - Italy 17th century

Interesting oil on canvas dating back to the 17th century representing a figure of a Saint, depicted as a very old person, with a beard, a naked torso, covered in the lower part by a cloak. In his right hand he holds the rosary, while the left is raised, as the Saint seems seized by a mystical vision. The dark background and the light that strikes the figure from the left give a strong and intense drama to the scene. Classical iconography thus represents various saints, such as Penitent St. Jerome, St. Onuphrius and St. Paul the Hermit, therefore it is not possible for us to give a precise reference to the figure represented. The panel, although in good conditions, requires minor cleaning and maintenance.

Ho acquistato on line alcuni gioielli, uno più bello dell'altro. Spedizione velocissima, bella confezione che includeva anche un gradito regalo, i gioielli sono più belli dal vivo che in foto. Lo Staff di Passione Antiqua veramente gentile, un piacere aver acquistato da loro.

Dopo due splendidi dipinti, dopo svariati anelli uno più bello dell’altro, mancava proprio questa perla d’orologio Longines. Un ringraziamento a tutto lo staff!
