Natural coral necklace with gold clasp - Italy 1960s

Necklace in orange-red coral from the Pacific Ocean, shaped as smooth barrels with the typical evident imperfections that enhance its naturalness. The coral is arranged to scale from the centre, with the central barrel being 19 mm. The clasp is in yellow gold with two red coral cabochons inserted. Since ancient times, coral has been much loved, in fact this exceptional sea product boasts a thousand-year history, linked to legends that exalt its presumed therapeutic and superstitious virtues which are reflected in both Eastern and Western cultures.
