Luigi Pagan was born in Chioggia – Venice – at the beginning of nineteenth century. He moved to Turin to study painting, and in the meantime he created theatre stage designs. Then, he would return to his hometown and study at the Fine Arts Academy of Venice. He exhibited his works of art at Bevilacqua la Masa and Ca’ Pesaro, and established relationships with many artists, such as Milesi, Bazzaro, Pavan, Brombo, and Galimberti.
Coming from a family of fishermen, he used intense and bright colours to depict scenes related to this job. As Luigi Pagan wrote: “I follow the impulse of my spirit, aiming to highlight the beauty and brightness of my people”.
