Longinesis a Swissluxury watches manufacturer, part of the Swatch Group. The company was founded in 1832 by Auguste Agassiz with the name Agassiz& Compagnie. It then changed to its current name in 1866 when the owner bought some land in a locality known as LesLongines on which he built his own watch factory. In 1880, Agassiz registered the name and logo of the company making the Longines logo the oldest among the watch manufacturers. Over the years Longines has become renowned in the sports world having provided special timepieces to the organizers of some of the biggest sporting events in the world and sponsoring many activities in the field of aeronautics, baseball, basketball, equestrian sports, gymnastics, motor racing, skiing, tennis and cycling.
