Old Russian icon made with egg tempera on wood, representing the Mother of God of the Three Hands. The origin of this icon is linked to the miracle received by John of Damascus to whom, while praying in front of an icon of the Virgin, the hand that had been cut off due to his work in defense of the sacred images was reformed. This piece features a chiseled metal cladding that forms the haloes of the Mother and Child and frames their figures. The state of preservation both of the board and of the pating is good.
