Icon painted in tempera on panel set in a golden frame with a red velvet background. The icon represents one of the most venerated typologies of the Mother of God, the Hodegetria of Smolensk which sees the Virgin indicating with her hand her Son depicted with the book of the Law while blessing with his right hand. The golden background symbolizes royalty and the divine, while the red color used for the robes represents the redemptive Passion of Christ. The panel has corners ruined by time.

Ho fatto pulire e controllare i miei gioielli, quando li ho rivisti ho fatto un salto indietro nel tempo di molti anni, oggi rivedo finalmente questi monili di nuovo brillanti e luminosi come quando mia madre li acquistò da giovane per indossarli e viverli in ogni buona occasione.
