Glorification of the Mother of God Russia 18th cent.
Ancient Russian icon from the end of the 18th century, depicting the "Madonna Enthroned" from Novgorod, made in tempera on wood. In the center is the Virgin Mary seated on a throne, surrounded by Saints who show the scrolls with the written prayers. At the Virgin's feet is a kneeling sinner asking for forgiveness. It is one of the most popular interpretations dedicated to the Mother of God, highly venerated in the Orthodox religious culture. The panel is in good conditions.
