Swiss watch company whose origins date back to 1791, in La Chaux-de-Fonds. In 1791 the watchmaker and goldsmith Jean-François Bautte signed his first watches in Geneva and there he founded a manufacturing company for the creation of time machines. In 1852, the watchmaker Constant Girard founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the maison of Girard & Cie. He married Marie Perregaux and in 1856 founded the company Girard-Perregaux & Cie. In 1906, Constant Girard-Gallet, successor of his father in the leadership of the company, works on the fusion of Maison Bautte with the Girard-Perregaux & Cie. Since then, the company continues its normal activities, reaching a position of prestige during the ‘80s in the production of luxury mechanical watches. In 2011, the Sowind Group, owner of Girard-Perregaux, becomes a subsidiary of Kering. During the years Girard-Perregaux has signed nearly 80 patents and has given rise to many innovations. It deals with the manufacture of movements and watches, as well as packaging and straps, this work involves the collaboration of professionals with different skills: watchmakers, engineers, designers movements, polishers, etc. in order to have control of all the production chain, from the beginning to its end.
