Murano glass sculpture - Flavio Poli - Archimede Seguso 1938

Mighty sculpture with a pair of fish executed in Murano glass using the “sommerso” and “bulicante” techniques, in emerald green and gold dust inclusions. It is a piece of glass of significant weight and thickness composed of clear and coloured cristallo, which is obtained by repeatedly dipping the object during the working process into different crucibles of melted glass. In this particular case, some layers of clear glass have been substituted by glass with bubbles and gold leaf, creating a beautiful multilayered effect. The work performed in 1938 in the Seguso glass factory, is an artifact of Flavio Poli, then artistic director of the glass company of the period. The glass object still has its original label.
